Ellenor has come home

Ellenor is home from the framers but EK is still waiting for a mount. She was too big for the framer to cut the mount himself so it has had to be ordered pre-cut.

Now to find the perfect place to hang her.

It is a beautiful day here and I long to sit with Ruthy and stitch but today I have lots of chores to do first both inside and out.

I have decided to unpick a few of the sections that I am not entirely happy with. When you photograph your work you notice things that you miss when actually stitching.

I hope that my interpretation of stem stitch filling is correct. I have never actually seen stem stitch filling other than in photographs.

The moth's body should have been stitched in stem but the effect of satin stitch appealed more to me.

Now I had better get back to my housework, sooner started, sooner finished.

Nicola, you tantalise us and tease us with your rendition of SL samplers. I just love how this one is turning out with you and I think your stem stitch is very neat indeed. Your current set of photographs shows the texture of this stitch beautifully.

Go on, give up housework and chores today and stitch some more!! The view of the cove from your home is wonderful.

This chart is on my next order list from Marsha when she returns home from her French trip.

Oh my, oh my, oh my! (can you tell I am speechless?) Nicola, are you stitching in your sleep, or what? have some resident elves who stitch for you at midnight? you are doing incredibly lovely work and I am amazed at how many samplers you have completed already! : ) (does your husband have to order take-out now....just curious : )

Nicola, I can't believe, or yes I can believe..... Both of your pieces, finished and unfinished are amazing. Slow down a little, let the others catch up with you. You'll be finished and starting another one before you know it. You must have energy to burn.......

I think the little moth is just perfect the way you did it. Very cute.

If I had that view out the window, I doubt I would get much stitching done. LOL

Both samplers look amazing Nicola. You get the stamp of approval from me on the stem stitch. Isn't it an amazing stitch. You are going to do well with Elizabeth. - Sandra :).

What a wonderful way to start my day seeing your beautiful photos Nicola!! Oh I just love them all and Ellenor has such a gorgeous frame on her. She is so lovely and the frame really sets off your beautiful stitching! I just totally love the photos of Ruthy you put up and you just have the prettiest view to stitch by with the sea too. Your stitches are perfect and so so pretty! You are certainly a master at the stem stitch and Ruthy is an heriloom already! I can only hope mine is half as nice. Your work is exquisite!

Ruthy is looking fabulous Nicola and the close up detailed photos make for excellent viewing. I am wondering though...how do you focus on your stitching with such a to die for view out that window! It must be SO chill-out-able and the light to stitch with brilliant. To heck with the housework...Rae.

I have nothing more to add to all of these comments...truly breathtaking work on the stem stitch! You could have invented it!! We know we are possessed when all we think of when we are away (physically or mentally) is how fast we can get home to stitch again! Plus when you have such beautiful samplers who will be looking at the house condition? I say "stitch on"!

'Ellenor' looks gorgeous all dressed up in her new moulding! And you always seem to find just the perfect spot for all your beautiful pieces.
And look at your progress on 'Ruthy'!!! ... your stem stitching looks fabulous! I like that you did the moth's body in satin stitch ... seems to fit them.
