Some will say I totally lost my mind!

It has been quite a while since I posted here.. Have been working on some other projects other than SL...But I have been working on Manifesto off and on for the past year... this is how far I have gotten
Now I suppose you are all saying "why has she lost her mind"  Well......A friend of mine is working on Hannah Carter over 1 on 25 ct and it is totally gorgeous!!!!!  I love the design.. I love the look over 1....each time I see it I fall more and more in love...then I got to thinking!!  I wonder what Manifesto would look like over 1 on 28 ct ??  (Can you figure out where this is headed)  so I stitiched the sun....OMG!! how I loved the look!! Now comes the big question.. What to do??? Oh my What do I do!!!  those of you who know me know that if I am not happy with something I will.... 1) never finish it or  2) start over... So by now you must have guessed.. Yes I STARTED OVER!  Many of my friends have said I am crazy.. yes lost my mind!!  But let me show you why...................
It is a bit difficult to capture the difference in a picture but hopefully you get the idea.. I just love the look of the one on the right soooooooooo much better....What will I do with the other.. which by the way is over 2 on 40 ct.. I have no idea other than to know it will never get finished... So here is my progress so far on the restart.. which was started somewhere between Thanksgiving and Christmas.. i can't remember the exact date...
Now to add to the mix.. If you remember I said I fell in love with Hannah Carter... and yes you guessed it ... I have also started her.... Yesterday!
My plan is this... to work on these two until they are finished.. hopefully I can accomplish that in 2014...When I tire of one I will switch to the other..let me just say both are a joy to stitch!!!

I do want to give everyone a heads up if you decide to stitch Hannah.... when getting my thread I found an issue.. not sure what I am going to do at this point.... the chart calls for both DMC 731 and 732...... when looking at both of these colors.. they are exactly the same!!! and on the label 732 has (731) written underneath.  So I am not sure what is going on with that.. I called the shop I deal with and they did not know either... Is DMC discontinuing the color????  who knows at this point.... I think what I am going to do is use 731 and omit the 732.... hope it works.. if you look at substituting 733  I think that color may be way to light.. Marsha if you read this any suggestions!

So this is my story and I am sticking to it  :)  I am sure there are many of you shaking your heads and saying "Yes, she has lost her mind" And I suppose yo would be correct!!!  lets just say it is not the first time and I am sure will not be the last that I have restarted a project.... So if anyone finds my mind wandering aimlessly around out there somewhere.. would you please send it home  :)

Wishing all of you and  happy and enjoyable stitching year.... Many thanks to Nicola, Jo and Marsha for keeping this blog going!

Your new Manifesto is wonderful and I can totally understand your decision but how brave! I can't wait to see your progress on both projects. Hannah is lovely too!

No you have definitely not lost your mind...or if you have what a way to loose it :)....The 28 ct. over one is STUNNING! I can see why you switched! I love it...just love it...I have been thinking about Manifesto over the last year and if I do pluck up my courage to stitch such a large sampler 28 ct over one is the answer for me! So thank you for starting over because this is a wonderful idea. I will be looking forward to your progress reports on both Manifesto and Hannah. They will both be beautiful. In fact you have just put an idea into my head....off to check my stash...grins...

I too am working on Hannah and was concerned about those two colors 731 and 732. I figured they both looked like the same color but I thought my eyes were deceiving me as I am elderly. LOL I think your going to the next number 733 is a good idea. I think I will go that way also.

Isabel aka as Garbo y salero, I love and admire the stitching of manifesto on 28 over 1. But hello, how brave are you.....I feel like I want to name all the samplers that you ladies post, but for now I will be happy to finish my Antonia and Sally Monroe's, not SL sampler.

You are right to start over one - it is so much nicer...
as to the sampler you have stitched over 2 - I looked at it - perhaps you can finish the motif so that all the houses are 'grounded' - add a simple border and work it all into an envelope or even a bag to carry your sampler supplies?

WOW KB!!! That HUGE of a project over 1 thread!!! All I can say is that I admire you for taking on such a HUGE project over one but I know you.....you are very dedicated and will be able to accomplish this project that way!!

I look forward to seeing your progress on it and I can say....YOU GO FOR IT!!!

I agree with Brenda. It is a huge project over 1. If you are settle on over 1, which it sounds like you are, I would gift of sell your over 2 project. Many stitchers would love to finish the over 2 version that you have been working on. Enjoy!!

I found this: http://www.cross-stitch-centre.co.uk/acatalog/discontinued_dmc_thread_colours.html about the discontinued DMC/double labeling issue. I didn`t know about this either!

I love Manifesto over one, but no way would I stitch that much over one...love the look but don`t love the doing, ;) I would make the over two part into a bag, or needlebook...or, as has been suggested, gift it to someone who wants to finish it.

No, I don`t think you are crazy...well, no crazier than any of us stitchers. ;) can`t wait to see your progress!!

I'm amazed by your ambition and skill with stitching both samplers over one. Your Manifesto looks incredible (both versions) and it looks like you've done a great deal of your new over one rendition. Looking forward to watching these both progress.

Follow your heart and do what you will ultimately enjoy
and, hopefully, complete. I agree with your preference for the over 1 on 28 comparison...so fine..
Switching between the two pieces
should hold your interest.

I saw Karen's picture last week and the over one piece is amazing in person!

I am sure if you don't want to finish the over two, there might be a few people here, that would take it off you hands. That might be a great giveaway, instead of letting it sit unfinished. I understand everything you said, we stitcher's are all crazy, we sit for hours and hours, sometimes lovely and sometimes &*#@%^_)(!%!!!! I think you understand. Enjoy and they are both lovely.

Wow! Amazing at how far you did get on Manifesto to make the change. What's most important is that you said you are loving the over 1 so much more. It is such a beautiful sampler and the over 1 is gorgeous. Enjoy both samplers and I look forward to your photo updates.

My Mom is working on Hannah and is using DMC and she and I decided that subbing 730 for the 731 would work to give some contrast between the two. You might try that. Both of your pieces look great!

I've wondered what Manifesto would look like over 1. Thank you so much for the comparison photos.

Your post is very enabling to me. I put Manifesto to one side and have gotten it out several times without putting in a stitch. In my heart of hearts I am not happy with my fabric.

I think that I too am going to restart again but not over 1 LOL !!
