Rachel Jarratt - Band 8

Saturday is my day for stitching on a SAL project with a group of friends and although I put Rachel away on Friday night when I sat to stitch on Saturday evening I could not resist putting her back on the stand.

I enjoyed the evening session so much listening to an audio book as I worked that when I looked at the clock it was 2.00am !!

I have been naughty and gone onto Band 8 before finishing Band 7 (there are such a lot of eyelets to stitch) but I fully intend to complete the left hand section before starting on the final band of whitework. I have played around with the colours so they are slightly different to those charted.

I have to make a decision on the colour of the whitework Band. I am not taken with the pink of the original. At the moment the colours calling to me are AVAS 2235 (Gold) or 3026 (Dark Rose).

What would you go with?

So beautiful! I like rose, although I am not good enough to ever stitch this sampler. I can share my opinion , though.;0

So fabulous, Nicola! I think I would go with the rose color to tie in the center flower and the pink color near the top.

Although a band of gold will be very complimentary to the one above it!

You're doing such a beautiful job on this! Watching your work is helping Rachel rise to the top of the to-do pile along with several others I've seen recently. Too many samplers, too little time!

When I squint at the overall color
layout, it would seem the rose
would counterbalance that large
gold/peach area....Your work and
the speed at which you progress is
mind-boggling. Truly an outstanding piece.

I know what ever you pick in the whitework area, it will be lovely. This really is a unique piece and I can't believe how fast your fingers move across the linen. Your amazing.

So very, very beautiful Nicola. I, too, vote for the dark pink...though either would work well. Can't wait to see it!

Oh my goodness, Nicola ... you have made great progress! I too started a few additional bands on the sampler I am stitching to take a little break from the eyelet bands ;)
Looks like the popular choice is the deep rose and I'm voting for that one too! Although either will look beautiful ... can't wait for the progress photos!

This is just beautiful Nicola. I am another one in favour of the rose.

I love the way those eyelet stitches look. I am not good friends with the Queen Stitch so I will definitely be substituting eyelets next time they are charted.

This is a stunning sampler. I really shouldn't buy it as I already have so many SL samplers in my stash basket!

Hi Nicola,
Could you put a skein of both colors you are thinking of at the bottom of the sampler and post a picture? It would help us making a choice.
When I look at the full picture I think I would opt for the lighter color used in the dianthus flowers - satin stitched area.. I am referring to the band above the band with dogs, deer, background fully stitched.... I've always liked this sampler and like seeing it develop in this 'virtual' world - thanks for sharing

Looked at the full picture again - I mean the satin stitched petals of the knotwork - dianthus band... 5th band down from the top or 4th band from the bottom - bargello/dogs/deer/dianthus-knotwork.....the light color used to fill in the petals of the flowers on either side

You are one speedy stitcher, Nicola. I cannot believe how much progress you have made since your last post I really need to add this to my stash I vote for pink but go with your gut feelings.

The sampler is beautiful. I was wondering if you had considered another color for the whitework band. The colors are lovely and bold. I agree that I wouldn't want the pink color. Ecru or the color that is in the background of band 6 might give you a balance in the colors. Whatever you choose, will be beautiful. I enjoy SL samplers as well. I even visited the shop and farm where they live in Wisconsin. It is an awesome place to see all the SL samplers on display and browse through the kits.

Wow Nicola this is just gorgeous! It really is and I just love the colors in this plus I am such a dog lover, and I love them too. The bargello area is so colorful and pretty!! I am thinking I may need to get this one. You sure are a fast stitcher and your stitches are beautiful too. I can hardly wait to see more of this progress.

You are truly amazing, as I think that you have only been working on this one so intently, since December 2013.... RJ is just fabulous. How many of these have you stitched.
