Polly Miner

The postman delivered a package to Thistle Manor today and when I looked at the package I immediately knew it was Polly Miner.  Like all Scarlet Letter samplers, Polly has an interesting story to tell.  Polly Eldridge Miner was born in the year 1815 in Bridport, Vermont.  When Polly was seven she stitched her sampler.  The original sampler hangs at Sheldon Museum in Middlebury, VT.  Faded shades of blue,  tan and brown on 35 ct linen done in simple cross stitch.  Thank you Nicola--Polly is perfect.
