Scarlet Letter Advent Calendar - Day 14

Day 14 - Sarah Dutnel

Sarah was re-charted and re-released by Marsha this year by popular demand after seeing Barbara H's in her interview.

She is a beauty and is recommended for any skill level.

I have been busy today with Christmas preparations but need some help deciding on a present for the man who says he has all he needs. Do you have any suggestions. £50 budget.

If you would like to win today's giveaway please leave a comment below. The draw for each day will take place on Boxing Day, you may enter each day.

Oh I do love this one and am glad Marsha has re-released it! Nice to know! As for the gift -- yikes! That's a toughie! My DH is the same way so I have the same sort of problem. lol! Does he need anything for his boat?

Love the tree on this one! So nice that Marsha re-released it! Hope you figure out something for your DH!

What a pretty little sampler! If your man says he has everything he needs, why not get hi something he doesn't need? Two cool things that come to mind are an atomic clock (never needs resetting) and an eReader (such as a Kindle).

Love this sampler. I too have the same problem with my DH. Last year at the last minute I found a rare out of print book that he wanted. Maybe you could pamper your DH and give him a certificate for a massage.

Im another one who loves this sampler. My DH is also one of those people who are really hard to buy for. God only knows what Im getting this year.

Yessss! I think this is my favourite sampler yet! She's sooo beautiful! I think I'm drawn to the border, the tree and those lovely gold colours. Hmmm, so hard to shop for a man. Never know what to get mine. How about a really cool gadget, like a super fancy swiss army knife, or some really nice cologne. It really depends what he's into. Mine's into survival/camping stuff.

Michele said...

Well as he has everything I think he would love you to spend the £50 on Scarlet Letter stuff!

Lovely sampler. My only suggestion for your DH would be a magazine subscription related to his favourite pastime e.g. Boating or motorbikes etc

A really lovely sampler! An it is difficult to find a gift to someone who has everything. Maybe some treats - a box of exquisite chocolate or something else that would be appreciated. Subscription of a hobby magazine, a gift card to his favorite hobby shop or book shop.

My husband never wants anything too, but he would miss the aftershave, slippers, books and toblerone he gets ever year, if they weren't under the tree. Sometimes lots of smaller parcels can be fun.

I have the same problem with my DH, how about tickets to the theatre or a meal out, so you can have a "date night" ?

Comment for Barbara G - Chocolates – no one ever gives a man a box of chocolates.

This is such a lovely sampler. I have the same dilemma every year with my DH.

This is my favorite sampler so far! I love the design. This could definitely be my first new project of 2014!
Same dilemma here for shopping.... We are rather practical by nature, so gifting ideas aren't very exciting! It is 10 degrees and very snowy so I am thinking about ski accessories.

Love the tree in this sampler -- wonderful!! How about a certificate for a couples massage???

A very pretty sampler.

Beautiful sampler... thanks Marsha for reissuing this chart.
I opt for gift certificates to area restaurants for the men in my family. It seems to be a hit with them for the past several years.

Beautiful sampler! Like someone else mentioned, the gift certificate to a favorite restaurant? (my hubby/sons love food...) or a food basket with special treats?

I love this sampler, it was on my Christmas list to Santa :)

Comment for Wilma- So glad Marsha re-released this beautiful sampler. It's already on my wishlist. I like to surprise my husband with a good book, a subscription to one of his favourite magazines or a nice cologne. However he loves chocolate so I always put some under the tree for him.

I love this sampler,
A romantic dinner.

Love the tree in this one. Beautiful! I bought my dh a classic muscle car earlier this year so he is getting Xmas presents that relate to it.

This is such a beautiful sampler. I loved it when I saw it hanging on Barbara's wall and it is definitely on my wish list....I usually like to find something from one of our local wineries that is unique....one year I found him a beautiful pewter ship wine stopper and he still uses that one a lot.

Love the border and lovely tree. It has an Autumn/warm feel to it.

This is such a beautiful sampler! It sounds like many of us have trouble with gifts for the men in our families, "A trip around the world"...........with gift certificates from different restaurants might be nice.....Indian, Mexican, Thai, Italian, etc

This is a beautiful sampler ... happy Marsha so kindly re-released this one!

Lovely sampler! I finally came up with something I hope my "I don't need anything" guy will like. A membership to a local gun club. Perhaps yours special guy would like a membership to a gym or golf club, etc.?

PS, I'm also knitting him a pair of slippers to replace the ones I made a number of years ago that he has worn to death. A special request.

This is a great sampler. I am glad it was recharted.

Nice sampler for the times when you feel stitching something simple...
As far as gift ideas...2 options:
- how about a gift certificate for his favorite bookstore/restaurant/men's store
- go all out and get something luxurious - like a cashmere robe or muffler

Ruth said...

This is a beautiful sampler that I would love to have on my wall. As for a present for DH, how about a gift certificate to his favorite Resturant or theater tickets.

Brenda said...

That is a beautiful sampler and I would love to be entered into the contest to win it.

As a present for your DH, I had cross stitched a special piece for my husband while he was deployed. He picked out the project this time. For his Christmas present, I am having it framed in his frame choice. It was the best present I could give come up with along with some gift cards to his favorite restaurants!

We all have everything we need, well maybe not too many samplers. But, for a man who has everything, I say this, if he can't eat it, drink it, or throw it away, then it isn't the perfect gift. I told this to my friends many years ago and I get the nicest things. I can either eat something homemade,or bake with some special ingredients. Drink a special bottle of wine or champagne, or dry my hands on beautiful seasonsal throw away towels. Give him the most precious gift of all, YOUR LOVE.....

Kevin said...

Love this sampler and would like to enter the drawing please. As for the gift for the man who has everything, hmmm. I always like gift certificates so I can chose what I'd like but this is for your husband, I believe? A nice bottle of cologne or after shave? A copy of his favorite movie on DVD or maybe a set if there's a series he loves. A classy sweater or nice shirt is always nice and tend to be things guys don't like going shopping for themselves.

Debbie Bauer said...

Oh I so love this sampler! I always find a gift certificate works best than he can choose what he wants! Its nice to give it in a special card!

Lelia said...

Stunningly beautiful sampler!!! Men are boring to buy for. I found a lovely tri-fold wallet for my DH. His wallet is just a mess & this new brown leather one is quite nice.

If he ever wears a dress shirt, I suggest a lovely silk tie. There are nice colors out for men this Winter [in my opinion]

When all else fails, an Amazon Gift Card usually works.

Oh, now that is a beautiful sampler. Please, toss my name in the hat.

This sampler is every elegant with all the golds and browns and nice airy tree. I would grace any sampler wall!
As for presents for husband, I'm in the same boat no clue.

Here in Asia the women are starting to wear "face-kinis" face masks that cover their entire face, with openings at the mouth, eyes and nostrils. This is because the air is so toxic coming from China and pollution is getting worse and worse. Although they look crazy some say these bright colored masks protect your skin from harmful things in the air, but it could also help a sailor keep out the sun...

This one looks like it is a Christmas sampler with that gorgeous tree. Love it.

This is a beauty of a sampler - I'd love to stitch her. As for those gifts, eh? Maybe he'd love a sampler :) Or a scrapbook of a special event in his life? (I'm doing both of those at the moment - I'll let you know how it turns out LOL)
