Scarlet Letter Advent Calendar - Day 1

To celebrate our year of stitching together I thought it would be good fun to have a Scarlet Letter advent calendar.

Day 1 is the stunning Lady and The Castle. Would you stitch this over one or two?

If you would like to win today's giveaway please leave a comment below. The draw for each day will take place on Boxing Day, you may enter each day.

I would stitch over 2 on 40 count.

Definitely tent stitch over one on either 36 or 40 count--as long as the Dazor was handy!

Over one, she is beautiful!

What a great idea - I would stitch it over 2, although I a sure it looks stunning stitched over 1.

It would be stunning over one but I would probably opt for over two on a high count fabric.

Tent stitch over two for me.

Love it! I would probably try to convert it to a crewel embroidery!

I would probably go with 40 count over two. Lovely idea for the holidays, Nicola!

On a high count linen over 1 but on a lower count probably over 2

Happy holiday to all

Comment on behalf of Barbara G - I would work Lady and the Castle over 1 on a high count but would have to choose thread carefully so it wouldn’t cause the piece to buckle. Great idea.

Beautiful bright colors! I think for me it would be difficult either way, but most probably I would go for over 1.

The colors are so lush...I would
probably do something of this
complexity over 2 on a higher
count to gain a similar effect...
Quite beautiful, as are so many
of the SL creations...

I would go for over 2 on 36 or 40 count so I could still stitch in rows which is my preference for large areas of colour.

Great competition idea and question.

I think I would opt for over one on a 35 count. But any way it is lovely.

I would consider stitching it over one in tent on congress cloth so it could be finished as a pillow instead of framed on the wall.

I would definitely do over one. Full crosses if on 28 ct, tent stitch if on 40 ct with the outlines being full crosses. I love this chart!

Absolutely beautiful piece! I would probably tent stitch over one,on a higher count linen.

I would stitch over two. I am just finishing My Beloved, don't think my eyes could take another over one. I love this chart and would love to stitch it

I have this fabulous chart and plan on stitching her over one.
Good luck all.

Gosh, I'd probably stitch it over one. I think that the design would have so much more clarity over one. It's such a beautiful sampler.

I would stitch over 2 on 40 count

Would be interesting to work this on silk gauze with continental stitch like the old petit point tapestries...

I would love to win this one!

Beautiful!''-Holly in VA

Oh gosh! Another fabulous sampler!! Are these really being given away?!? I think I would stitch it over one as I like a challenge and teeny tiny stitching.

Michele said...

Definitely 2 over my eyes would protest too much otherwise!

I love the colours in this. Just beautiful! I would stitch it over 1 on 40 count.

Over 2, she's gorgeous.

I would stitch this over one no matter how blind it would make me. Thank you soooo much for this "calendar"!

Jane in Wisconsin said...

I would have to stitch over 2 threads.

EvalinaMaria said...

Definitely over one on 25 or 26 ct.

Maria del Valle said...

I would like stitch it over one, on 25 count!

I'm sure it would look incredible stitched over one, but my poor eyes would never cooperate, I'm afraid. I once tried to stitch a model piece for a designer which was stitched over one on 28 count and I'm embarrassed to admit that I just couldn't do it and had to resign from the model stitching job less than 1/5 of the way into the piece. :-(
I would therefore stitch this over two. I absolutely LOVE this sampler. I hope I not too late to enter the drawing for this one. Thank you.
