Ann Thompson

Ann Thompson is finished and back from the framer (Lynn's, in Madison, WI).  Today I will be writing the instructions.

It's done primarily in cross stitch.  The satin stitched areas are first outlined with backstitch so there isn't any frightening freehand.  Christ and the cross are filled in with stem filling stitches.

I am sure many will be waiting for this to hit the market. I think a few of mom's stitching buddies are waiting. Very lovely...

It is beautiful! Much more colorful than I guessed from the pictures of an original.

The original sampler was stitched on an extremely fine linen, with an equally super fine silk thread. The reason it looks so vibrant now is because it was stitched on 40 count linen with AVAS soie d'alger which is probably twice as thick as the original silk. But those are the real colors!
