My Manifesto - Sunday's Progress - Week #2

My Manifesto is slowly progressing...I am only stitching this on Sundays only.

Here is a picture of my latest progress:

I have chosen to complete one page at a time!  It looks like next Sunday, I will be doing the blue sky background:)  A mindless task while I watch and listen to the Daytona 500!

Stitching on silk gauze is much like doing needlepoint...just on a much smaller scale!

Happy Stitches,

-Holly in VA

Congratulations on your version, I think doing it on silk gauze is a very brave move.

Is the pattern for The Manifesto in a book form or spread out on independant pages?

Sally, it is in "book form". It will be very easy to navigate:)

This is so beautiful Holly I wish I had the skill needed to stich on silk gauze. I am going to see if anyone in the WI in the village has some experience.

I adore the clouds.

You are making some wonderful progress on this, and I have to say that you have my interest piqued with this 40ct gauze. I'm tempted to try it, but don't know how it would work for a piece so large. I might have to try it though. I am interested in knowing how you mounted it though. Stretcher bars?

Hey Deb: I used 40 ct. silk gauze the size of 14 inches by 19 inches, taped the sides and mounted on the same size stretcher bars by putting the tacks side by side. You can get an idea by looking at my picture.

I would love to have some silk gauze company;)

I'm definitely thinking about it Holly. It looks intriguing and it's still a good sized piece. I also like doing it in tent stitch as I'm doing that on Ann Smith right now and really enjoying it. I'm going to my LNS on Wednesday and think that I'll see if they have a piece large enough. And I'll have to see if I have stretcher bars that size from my needlepoint days. You just may be getting some company.

Your gauze looks different that what I have though. Mine doesn't seem to have definitive holes - meaning that you just have a thread going both ways. I think that mine looks like double threads - I'll have to look at it again.

I have to confess to never even hearing of silk gauze before. What a lovely effect and you have gotten so far on.

Holly, I love your Manifesto. As of now, I am not planning on stitching this. If I change my mind, I might follow your foot steps and stich it on silk gauze.

It's beautiful already!

Your Manifesto is looking great, Holly. And your stitching on the silk gauze is lovely. I really must look into this. Am I understanding the concept correctly? ... stitching on 40ct silk gauze using tent stitch is the same size "stitch" as 40ct linen over 2?
