My second comment on this post. I have come back to The Manifesto so many times today.

Marsha can you advise what stiches are used.

It's done entirely in cross stitch. On 40 count linen, over two, it measures 19" x 30". It will be available for sale next month.

Oh my goodness, I hope you are prepared for a deluge of orders! I can't wait! Is this your own design, Marsha? What was the inspiration?

It is an original design, but like all originals it was inspired by an elaborate early 18th century English tent stitched design that I saw in an auction catalogue many years ago. I mixed in elements from other pieces from the same period (circa 1725) and voila, almost five years later, "Il Manifesto" is finally finished! I have always kept a scrapbook of design bits and pieces to draw from for inspiration.

I just have gotten off the phone after having a chat with Marsha. She started my love of pictorial samplers. Four or five years ago she and I talked about our mutual love of pictorials and at that time she teased me about the end all be all of pictorial samplers. Last year I was told she was going to finish it soo to hold my horses. Today I called and ordered Margret Lawrence for my birthday and after ordering we as usual started chatting and cutting up, like women our age tend to do, I was then informed it was done and I could find a picture of it. Wow! What a sampler! I showed it to my husband and he is amazed about the beauty of it. She will be coming to live with me as soon as Marsha gets her ready to sell and I can't wait!
